Why?
In his TED Talk, Simon Sinek starts with a fundamental question: Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike?
People won’t truly buy into a product, service, movement, or idea until they understand the WHY behind it.
Simon Sinek, Leadership Expert
So, the goal is to do business with people who believe what you believe. Unless you tell your customers what you believe, they won’t know and they won’t connect with your business. Your website content should reflect your beliefs, your Why’s.
What I believe.
At Louise, I believe we all have gifts; things we are good at, things we love to do, things that come easily. This is the sweet spot and where you should spend most of your energy.
DYI or not?
Let’s say I want a beautiful painting to hang on my living room wall. I could go to the art store, get some supplies and set off to paint. For sure, I’d have a painting at the end of the process, but it won’t turn out well.
What if I want to have a beautiful flower garden? I could go to the garden store, buy plants and flowers and put them in the ground. For sure, I’d have flowers, but they won’t survive.
What if instead, I find a gifted artist and buy a painting from her. This painting looks perfect on my wall, the artist makes some money and she can keep making art. Or perhaps I could hire a landscaper or master gardener to choose and plant the flowers for my garden. The flowers thrive and the gardener is successful.
Here is the best part. If I don’t spend my time painting a bad painting or planting a troubled garden, I can spend more time using my gifts; helping others with technology by creating simple, beautiful websites.
What about you?
What is your Why? What are your beliefs? Leave a comment below and tell me if your website reflects your why.
If it doesn’t; maybe it’s time to make a change.
Yours truly,
Barbara
